YSU Faculty of Oriental Studies serves as a platform for the development of Armenian-Kazakhstani academic and cultural ties
Kazakh participants of the Kazakhstan Culture Days events, held in Armenia, visited Yerevan State University. They were accompanied by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Armenia, Bolat Imanbayev. During their meeting with university representatives, renowned figures of Kazakh culture presented numerous valuable books in Kazakh and Russian to the Abai Center for the Study of the Kazakh Language, History, and Culture at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. Ambassador Bolat Imanbayev and the Kazakh guests emphasized the exceptional role of YSU in strengthening Armenian-Kazakh cooperation not only in academic but also in cultural and humanitarian areas.

During the meeting, Professor Alexander Safaryan, Head of the Chair of Turkology at YSU, provided a detailed presentation on the work of the chair's lecturers and researchers at the Institute of Armenian Studies, focusing on Armenian-Kazakh cultural interactions and the process of teaching the Kazakh language at YSU.
The importance of fundamental and lasting publications, released in recent years under the editorial work, translations, prefaces, or postfaces of YSU experts, was highlighted. These works include scholarly detailed annotations and have significantly contributed to the field. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on the Armenian anthology of Kazakh literature, the new edition of M. Auezov’s epic novel Abai, the first Armenian translation of Abai’s Black Words, and the first comprehensive Armenian collection of Kazakh folk tales.
The long-standing and fruitful cooperation between leading universities in Armenia and Kazakhstan, namely YSU and the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Astana), was also underscored.
As is widely known, works by Armenian Turkologists have been published in numerous countries and languages around the world, including Kazakhstan (in Kazakh), and have received the highest recognition from Kazakhstan’s political leadership, as well as from Kazakh scholars, writers, and cultural figures. It is also noteworthy that many YSU professors and graduates, who have contributed to the field, have been awarded the highest state honors of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
